it takes 21 days to form a new habit.

So here I am, day 2.

G has a friend spending the night tonight. I went to the Kroger, a special trip for specific snacks. Did you know a bag of chips goes for like $7 now?! When did that happen? Why did that happen?

$150 later, the snacks are secured and our home is nearly company-clean. I'm here, doing this instead of dishes. I'm procrastinating. I'm excellent at it.

My car wouldn't start twice yesterday. We were able to get a jump each time, but Jimi ordered me a new battery as soon as we were home and I was able to ride up there this morning and have it installed. I am so thankful to him for doing that for me. If left to my own devices, I definitely would've put that off until I found myself stranded somewhere and when it was extra inconvenient to have to mess with it. Now it's done and over and it was easy as could be. Love that sweet man of mine.

I asked him not too long ago why he puts up with my bullshit. "I need someone to take care of me when I break down." The more I sit with that answer, the more I see the depth of it.

I've procrastinated the dishes long enough.

I've checked the box.

Until tomorrow...

Here's to a new year!

January 1st, 2026.

"2026" is wild. It seems impossibly futuristic and old at the same time.

We had dinner at Mom's, corned beef with cabbage and potatoes and carrots and black eyed peas. Her food is so good. I love to eat my Momma's cooking.

Cora and I walked a little over a mile and a half, down to the local coffee shop and back through the park. She has to log 30 minutes of physical activity for 14 days straight for Scouts, and today is a day for beginnings.

G spent the day with Sheli, curling hair and chatting and visiting a witchy coffee shop. Cora was over there yesterday and made a pillow. God bless Sheli.

G has a friend spending the night tomorrow, so we have to get the house company ready. This is her first guest since she's moved into her own bedroom; it's sort of a big deal. My goal is to assist G in being an excellent hostess while also not embarrassing her. Pray for us.

More soon. Tonight, and maybe for a minute, I'm checking a box. But look!  I'm checking the box!

Happy New Year, happy 2026. May it bring you only good things.
